Our First Potluck!

Well, we think that the first VPS potluck can safely be called a success. You can see all of the photos on the Flickr page here. Our guess is that about 60 people total came to eat with us in Tietze Park. There was a ridiculous amount of delicious food. I wish that I'd taken more photos of all of the dishes. I know that we had chili, avocado mushroom salad, several types of hummus, green tea noodles, tossed salad, watermelon, quinoa salad, a few different pasta salads, potato salad, black bean and corn salad, grilled uncheese sandwiches, jalapeno cornbread, baked ziti, barbecue seitan, couscous salad, blueberry cupcakes, peach cobbler, kolaches, peanut butter fudge and various cookies. I'm positive that I'm missing a few dishes, but that gives you a pretty good idea of what you missed if you didn't make it.

We're not sure yet when the next potluck will be held, but I'll post as soon as we work out the details. If you have any questions about VPS or suggestions for future potlucks, you can always email us at veganpotlucksociety AT gmail DOT com.

Extra Supplies?

The potluck is only two days away! As of now, we only have one card table, plus the picnic table at the site. We have absolutely no idea how many people are planning to come, so if anyone has an extra table and/or ice chest that you could bring (just in case), that would be great.

First VPS Potluck in the Park

The Vegan Potluck Society's first Potluck in the Park will be at 6:00 PM on Monday, May 26th on the north side of Tietze Park under the giant tree.

The potluck is free, just bring a completely vegan dish to share. If you don't cook, you can always bring something premade (chips, drinks, etc)--as long as it's vegan. We can't have any alcohol because it's a public park, but there will be tea, water and maybe some punch or iced coffee. There will only be enough table room to set up the food, so you might want to bring a lawn chair or a blanket. And it's going to be BYO-UPC (bring your own utensils, plates and cups) so that we don't create a ton of unnecessary trash. The park has tennis and basketball courts, plus a lot of free space, so bring tennis racquets, basketballs, soccerballs, frisbees or whatever else you like. So, bring your friends and come eat with us. If you have any questions or suggestions, you can email me at veganpotlucksociety AT gmail DOT com or call Mason at 214-554-2853. If he doesn't answer, leave a message and he'll get back to you ASAP.

Join the Vegan Potluck Society

Hi all! The Vegan Potluck Society is a new group based in East Dallas dedicated to throwing vegan potlucks, picnics, barbecues and block parties. We're in the processing of planning our first potluck for the end of May. I'll have more info to post this weekend, but feel free to email us with any input/ideas for VPS events. This group is going to be really informal, and we'd like to have as many vegans, friends of vegans, and even skeptical non-vegans join us for fun times and tasty food. Come eat with us!
